About the role
SIA Security Officer — Greater Birmingham. Self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 25% of every shift KJ Security allocates to you. We hold the client contracts; you pick the shifts that fit your week. You'll be allocated retail, corporate reception, event, and site security shifts across Birmingham and the Black Country. Some shifts are static observation; others are patrol and access control; event work is peak-based (evenings, weekends, matchdays). Shifts are dispatched via the KJ portal with the site brief, RA/AI, uniform standard, contact, start/end times and reporting instruction. Ticket per shift varies with client and hours (typically £14–£18/hr equivalent through the profit-share); overnight and event premium shifts pay meaningfully more. Suits an SIA-badged officer (DS and/or CP) with a clean professional record. Not for anyone without a current SIA licence — this is non-negotiable.
Responsibilities
- Complete site inductions and hand-over notes at start and end of shift
- Control access and monitor CCTV / alarm systems
- Patrol to schedule and log incidents accurately
- De-escalate conflict calmly and within SIA guidance
- Complete accurate incident reports and evidence submission
- Present a professional appearance in KJ / client uniform to the required standard
- Cooperate with police and emergency services on incident escalation
- Submit shift completion in the KJ portal for payment processing
Requirements
- Current SIA Door Supervisor and/or Security Guarding licence
- Right to work in the UK
- 5-year checkable employment / activity history
- Clean, professional presentation
- Own transport for reaching sites (public transport acceptable in central zones)
- Public liability insurance (or willingness to arrange)
- Smartphone for the KJ portal
How working with KJ actually works
From apply to first paid job — four honest steps
- 1
Apply in 60 secs
One tap on this page. No CV wall, no cover letter. Just your name, trade and coverage area.
- 2
Sign your KJ contract
Plain-English self-employed profit-share agreement — 25–50% of job value depending on the role. E-signed. No tie-in, no exclusivity trap.
- 3
Log in to the KJ Portal
See the jobs allocated to you: address, scope, customer notes, agreed price. Accept the ones you want, decline the ones you don't.
- 4
Do the work, get paid your share
Complete the job, mark it done in the portal. KJ invoices the customer. Your share lands on the regular payment cycle — no chasing, no unpaid quotes.
The KJ Portal is rolling out through 2026 — until then, early hires are onboarded and dispatched directly by the KJ ops team. Same profit-share, same transparency.
Why KJ, not a company job
A plumber does 3–4 jobs a day; a surveyor 2–4; a solicitor a handful of matters. The client pays hundreds — often thousands. You take home a fraction. The company keeps the rest.
