About the role
Removals Operative — Leeds and West Yorkshire. Self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 30% of every job KJ Removals routes to you. We survey, price and confirm with the customer; you turn up to a booked, priced move. You'll be sent to domestic house removals, part-loads, packing days, small office relocations, and storage runs to the KJ partner storage unit. Most moves are 1-day jobs; larger family moves run into a second day. Jobs are dispatched via the KJ portal with the survey notes, inventory, vehicle allocation, parking permit and delivery contact confirmed. Tickets vary widely (£350 small move up to £2,500+ for a large 4-bed with packing). Suits an experienced removals operative — physically fit, careful with customer belongings, comfortable driving up to 7.5t. Not for casual labour — this is trusted access to a customer's home and possessions.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload vans safely and efficiently, protecting floors and door frames
- Pack cartons, wardrobes, glassware and fragile items to a professional standard
- Dismantle and reassemble common furniture (beds, wardrobes, tables)
- Drive up to 7.5t (C1) where licensed
- Handle customer inventory paperwork per the KJ process
- Communicate clearly with the customer through the move
- Photo-document any pre-existing damage before loading
- Keep the vehicle clean and the equipment (trolleys, blankets, straps) accounted for
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence — C1 (7.5t) a strong plus
- Right to work in the UK
- Physically fit and comfortable with a full day of manual handling
- Public liability insurance
- Smartphone for the KJ portal
- Trustworthy, respectful manner in customer homes
How working with KJ actually works
From apply to first paid job — four honest steps
- 1
Apply in 60 secs
One tap on this page. No CV wall, no cover letter. Just your name, trade and coverage area.
- 2
Sign your KJ contract
Plain-English self-employed profit-share agreement — 25–50% of job value depending on the role. E-signed. No tie-in, no exclusivity trap.
- 3
Log in to the KJ Portal
See the jobs allocated to you: address, scope, customer notes, agreed price. Accept the ones you want, decline the ones you don't.
- 4
Do the work, get paid your share
Complete the job, mark it done in the portal. KJ invoices the customer. Your share lands on the regular payment cycle — no chasing, no unpaid quotes.
The KJ Portal is rolling out through 2026 — until then, early hires are onboarded and dispatched directly by the KJ ops team. Same profit-share, same transparency.
Why KJ, not a company job
A plumber does 3–4 jobs a day; a surveyor 2–4; a solicitor a handful of matters. The client pays hundreds — often thousands. You take home a fraction. The company keeps the rest.
