About the role
Domestic Plumber — Greater Manchester This is a self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 25% of every job value on this role — no day rate, no chasing customers, no unpaid quotes. KJ Plumbers generates the demand and routes real, priced work directly to you; you turn up, do the job to a professional standard, and get paid your share. You'll be sent to a steady mix of everyday domestic plumbing across Greater Manchester and the surrounding towns. Typical work includes: leaking taps, mixer cartridges and washer swaps, burst and weeping pipework, blocked toilets, sinks and traps, radiator swaps and TRV replacements, cylinder and immersion issues (non-gas), ballcock and float valve replacements, isolation valve and outside tap installs, dishwasher and washing-machine plumb-ins, minor bathroom repairs and first-fix on small refurb jobs, insurance-triggered call-outs and landlord safety follow-ups. A typical day is 3–4 jobs, mostly within a ~30-minute drive of your base. Work is dispatched to you the evening before via the KJ Portal (rolling out through 2026 — until then the KJ ops team schedules you directly), with live updates during the day. You accept the jobs you want and decline the ones you don't — no forced rota, no on-call. On a normal domestic ticket of £250–£350, your 25% share is roughly £60–£90 per job. Four jobs a day at that mix is why the earning potential shown above lands where it does. This isn't a promise — it's the honest maths of the work being routed to you. This role suits an experienced, time-served domestic plumber who owns their van and tools, wants proper autonomy, and is tired of either a day-rate ceiling or the grind of self-generating every lead. Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair domestic leaks, drips and weeping joints on copper, plastic and multi-layer pipework
- Replace failed tap cartridges, ceramic discs, washers, isolation valves, traps and flexi-hoses
- Clear blockages in sinks, basins, baths, showers and toilets — including rodding and hand-augering where needed
- Fit outside taps, washing-machine and dishwasher connections, and additional isolation points
- Swap radiators, TRVs and lockshields; bleed and rebalance small heating systems (non-gas work only)
- Complete first-fix plumbing on minor bathroom repairs and small refurb jobs routed by KJ
- Keep the customer informed on arrival window and ETA via the KJ Portal, and behave as a professional on-site
- Photo-document completed work and mark jobs complete in the portal so KJ can invoice and release your share
Requirements
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent time-served domestic experience)
- Your own van, hand tools and standard consumables
- Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
- Public liability insurance in place (or willing to arrange — KJ can point you to a preferred broker)
- Smartphone capable of running the KJ Portal for job dispatch, photos and completion sign-off
- Professional, customer-facing manner — you are the face of KJ Plumbers on every doorstep
