About the role

Bathroom Plumber — Greater Birmingham. This is a self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 25% of every job value KJ Bathrooms routes to you — no day rate, no chasing customers, no unpaid quotes. We generate the demand, price the job with the customer, and dispatch it to you priced and confirmed. You'll be sent to a mix of full and partial bathroom refurbs, suite swaps, electric and mixer shower installs, waste re-routing, silicone and sealing, tap and cartridge swaps, and leak diagnostics on existing suites. Some jobs are one-day fixes; others are 2–4 day refurbs where you coordinate with a KJ tiler or electrician also dispatched by us. Typical week is 3–5 jobs within roughly 30–40 minutes of your base, dispatched via the KJ portal the night before with live updates on the day. Tickets range from around £180 for a small repair up to £2,500+ on a full refurb, so on a 25% share a solid week comfortably clears what most bathroom fitters earn on PAYE — see the calculator above for realistic ranges tied to job flow. Suits an experienced bathroom fitter / plumber with own tools and van who wants to be handed priced, agreed work instead of quoting and chasing. Not for brand-new apprentices or new-build first-fix only crews — we're refurb and reactive.

Responsibilities

  • Strip out and remove existing bathroom suites, tiles and flooring where scoped
  • Install baths, basins, WCs, showers (electric and mixer) and shower enclosures to manufacturer spec
  • Re-route hot/cold feeds and waste runs where the customer has changed layout
  • Diagnose and repair leaks, failed cartridges, blocked wastes and faulty flush mechanisms
  • Silicone, seal and finish work to a customer-ready standard
  • Coordinate on-site with KJ-dispatched tilers and electricians where the job needs them
  • Keep the customer informed on ETA, progress and completion via the KJ portal
  • Photo-document completed work for KJ quality assurance and warranty

Requirements

  • Time-served bathroom fitter or NVQ Level 2/3 Plumbing with refurb experience
  • Own van and full set of bathroom-fitting hand and power tools
  • Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
  • Public liability insurance (or willingness to arrange — KJ can point to a preferred broker)
  • Smartphone for the KJ portal (dispatch, photos, sign-off)
  • Professional, customer-facing manner — you're representing KJ in the customer's home

How working with KJ actually works

From apply to first paid job — four honest steps

  1. 1

    Apply in 60 secs

One tap on this page. No CV wall, no cover letter. Just your name, trade and coverage area.

  2. 2

    Sign your KJ contract

Plain-English self-employed profit-share agreement — 25–50% of job value depending on the role. E-signed. No tie-in, no exclusivity trap.

  3. 3

Log in to the KJ Portal

See the jobs allocated to you: address, scope, customer notes, agreed price. Accept the ones you want, decline the ones you don't.

  4. 4

Do the work, get paid your share

Complete the job, mark it done in the portal. KJ invoices the customer. Your share lands on the regular payment cycle — no chasing, no unpaid quotes.

The KJ Portal is rolling out through 2026 — until then, early hires are onboarded and dispatched directly by the KJ ops team. Same profit-share, same transparency.

Why KJ, not a company job

A plumber does 3–4 jobs a day; a surveyor 2–4; a solicitor a handful of matters. The client pays hundreds — often thousands. You take home a fraction. The company keeps the rest.
