About the role
24 Hour Locksmith — Greater London. Self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 35% of every call-out KJ Locksmith routes to you — one of the higher share rates because out-of-hours and insurance-triggered call-outs carry meaningful tickets. You'll be sent to lockouts (front doors, sheds, garages), cylinder changes (Euro, Yale, mortice), uPVC gearbox swaps, security upgrades to insurance standard (BS3621, TS007), safe openings (basic), and insurance-triggered post-burglary board-ups + rekey. Nights and weekends are a real part of the rota. Jobs are dispatched via the KJ portal with the address, lock type (where known), customer ID verification steps and price confirmed. Tickets range from £75 for a straight cylinder swap up to £400+ for a full uPVC gearbox + insurance upgrade. Suits an experienced locksmith with your own van and lock stock. Not for someone without non-destructive entry skills — force-only fitters aren't a fit for a reputable brand.
Responsibilities
- Gain non-destructive entry to domestic and light commercial doors where possible
- Change Euro, Yale and mortice cylinders to BS3621 / TS007 standard
- Replace failed uPVC and composite door gearboxes
- Upgrade locks to insurance-approved standard and issue evidence to the customer
- Board up and re-secure properties after burglary or storm damage
- Verify customer ID per the KJ safe-caller process before any lock work
- Photo-document each job in the KJ portal
- Cover the 24/7 rota fairly
Requirements
- Time-served locksmith with proven non-destructive entry skills
- Own van with full lock stock and pick / bypass kit
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK

- Comfortable with night and weekend rota
How working with KJ actually works
From apply to first paid job — four honest steps
- 1
Apply in 60 secs
One tap on this page. No CV wall, no cover letter. Just your name, trade and coverage area.
- 2
Sign your KJ contract
Plain-English self-employed profit-share agreement — 25–50% of job value depending on the role. E-signed. No tie-in, no exclusivity trap.
- 3
Log in to the KJ Portal
See the jobs allocated to you: address, scope, customer notes, agreed price. Accept the ones you want, decline the ones you don't.
- 4
Do the work, get paid your share
Complete the job, mark it done in the portal. KJ invoices the customer. Your share lands on the regular payment cycle — no chasing, no unpaid quotes.
The KJ Portal is rolling out through 2026 — until then, early hires are onboarded and dispatched directly by the KJ ops team. Same profit-share, same transparency.
Why KJ, not a company job
A plumber does 3–4 jobs a day; a surveyor 2–4; a solicitor a handful of matters. The client pays hundreds — often thousands. You take home a fraction. The company keeps the rest.
