About the role

EV Charging Installer — Greater London. Self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 25% of every install KJ Electricians routes to you. We handle the customer enquiry, OZEV eligibility, DNO notification and pricing; you turn up to a fully packaged install. You'll be sent to 7kW home chargers on domestic driveways (single and dual phase), load-management retrofits, tethered and untethered units, occasional 22kW three-phase installs, and workplace charger add-ons on small commercial sites. Typical install is 3–5 hours; more complex three-phase or long cable runs go into a second visit. Jobs are dispatched via the KJ portal with the survey photos, unit spec, cable route, isolator location, DNO reference and price confirmed. Tickets are typically £900–£2,400+ on 7kW work, higher on three-phase. Suits an experienced electrician with 2919-01 (EV) and 18th Edition, own van and calibrated test kit. Not for someone without 18th Edition or without at least 6 months of EV install experience — this is safety-critical work.

Responsibilities

  • Install 7kW single-phase and 22kW three-phase EV chargers to manufacturer spec
  • Run SWA / T&E from CU or dedicated supply to charger location, cleanly routed and clipped
  • Fit isolators, RCBO/RCD protection and load-management CT clamps
  • Complete DNO notifications and OZEV grant paperwork through the KJ scheme
  • Commission and test the unit; hand over the app onboarding to the customer
  • Photo-document each stage in the KJ portal
  • Test and issue minor works / installation certificates
  • Feed back access or supply surprises back to KJ before proceeding

Requirements

  • 18th Edition (BS7671) qualified and current
  • City & Guilds 2919-01 (EV Installation) or equivalent
  • Own van and calibrated MFT test meter
  • Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
  • Public liability insurance
  • Smartphone for the KJ portal

How working with KJ actually works

From apply to first paid job — four honest steps

  1. 1

    Apply in 60 secs

One tap on this page. No CV wall, no cover letter. Just your name, trade and coverage area.

  2. 2

    Sign your KJ contract

Plain-English self-employed profit-share agreement — 25–50% of job value depending on the role. E-signed. No tie-in, no exclusivity trap.

  3. 3

Log in to the KJ Portal

See the jobs allocated to you: address, scope, customer notes, agreed price. Accept the ones you want, decline the ones you don't.

  4. 4

Do the work, get paid your share

Complete the job, mark it done in the portal. KJ invoices the customer. Your share lands on the regular payment cycle — no chasing, no unpaid quotes.

The KJ Portal is rolling out through 2026 — until then, early hires are onboarded and dispatched directly by the KJ ops team. Same profit-share, same transparency.

Why KJ, not a company job

A plumber does 3–4 jobs a day; a surveyor 2–4; a solicitor a handful of matters. The client pays hundreds — often thousands. You take home a fraction. The company keeps the rest.
