About the role
Kitchen Fitter — Greater London. Self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 30% of every job KJ Kitchens routes to you. We handle the design sign-off and pricing with the customer; you receive a fully specified fit with delivered units, worktops and appliances waiting on site. You'll be sent to full kitchen installs (rip-out, base + wall units, worktop, appliance plumb-in for non-gas), part refurbs (door swaps, worktop replacement, sink and tap upgrades), and snagging visits. Typical install runs 3–5 days; smaller refurb work is 1–2 days. Jobs are dispatched via the KJ portal with the CAD plan, unit schedule, delivery slot and customer contact confirmed. KJ electricians and gas engineers are dispatched separately for the parts you're not certified for — you focus on the carcasses, worktops, sink/tap and non-gas appliance plumb-in. Tickets on this role are meaningful (£1,500–£6,000+ for a full kitchen), so on a 30% share the calculator above shows what a realistic booked week looks like. Suits an experienced kitchen fitter with own tools and van. Not for gas hob commissioning — that goes to the KJ Gas Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Rip out existing kitchen and dispose in line with the job scope
- Fit base, wall and tall units level, square and plumb to the CAD plan
- Scribe, join and finish laminate, solid wood and stone-effect worktops
- Plumb in sinks, taps, dishwashers, washing machines and non-gas appliances
- Fit end panels, cornice, pelmet, plinths and handles to a finished standard
- Coordinate on-site with KJ-dispatched electrician and (where needed) gas engineer
- Snag and photo-sign-off the kitchen in the KJ portal with the customer
- Flag out-of-scope surprises back to KJ before proceeding
Requirements
- Time-served kitchen fitter with worktop-joining and scribing experience
- Full toolkit including router, jig, mitre saw, cordless drill/driver, laser level, moisture meter
- Own van large enough for panels and worktops
- Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
- Public liability insurance
- Smartphone for the KJ portal
