About the role

Home Carer — Leeds and West Yorkshire. Self-employed profit-share role, not a wage. You keep 35% of every visit KJ Carers routes to you. We manage the client relationships, care plans and rota; you pick the runs that fit your week. You'll cover personal care visits (30–60 minute slots) in customer homes: personal care, medication prompts, meal preparation, hydration, light domestic support, companionship, and some double-up visits with a second carer where the care plan requires it. Runs are geographic clusters so you're not driving all day. Visits are dispatched via the KJ portal with the care plan, key-safe code, next-of-kin contact and any safeguarding notes. Ticket per visit is small (£16–£22 depending on complexity), but a well-planned 8-hour run of clustered visits stacks up — the calculator above shows what a booked week clears at 35%. Suits an experienced home carer or someone with the Care Certificate and a genuine calling for the work. Enhanced DBS mandatory. Not for anyone without transport in the runs — the geography demands it.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver personal care per the client's care plan with dignity and respect
  • Prompt and record medication in line with the MAR chart
  • Prepare meals, drinks and light snacks
  • Complete light domestic tasks in scope (bed change, laundry, tidy)
  • Log each visit in the KJ portal with time in/out and observations
  • Flag any change in the client's condition to the KJ care coordinator immediately
  • Cover double-ups with a second carer where the plan requires
  • Follow safeguarding, infection control and moving-and-handling protocols

Requirements

  • Care Certificate (or willingness to complete before starting)
  • Enhanced DBS (Adult Workforce) — KJ can support the application
  • Own transport suitable for clustered community rounds
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Public liability insurance (or willingness to arrange)
  • Smartphone for the KJ portal
  • Calm, patient, respectful manner with vulnerable adults

How working with KJ actually works

From apply to first paid job — four honest steps

  1. 1

    Apply in 60 secs

One tap on this page. No CV wall, no cover letter. Just your name, trade and coverage area.

  2. 2

    Sign your KJ contract

Plain-English self-employed profit-share agreement — 25–50% of job value depending on the role. E-signed. No tie-in, no exclusivity trap.

  3. 3

Log in to the KJ Portal

See the jobs allocated to you: address, scope, customer notes, agreed price. Accept the ones you want, decline the ones you don't.

  4. 4

Do the work, get paid your share

Complete the job, mark it done in the portal. KJ invoices the customer. Your share lands on the regular payment cycle — no chasing, no unpaid quotes.

The KJ Portal is rolling out through 2026 — until then, early hires are onboarded and dispatched directly by the KJ ops team. Same profit-share, same transparency.

Why KJ, not a company job

A plumber does 3–4 jobs a day; a surveyor 2–4; a solicitor a handful of matters. The client pays hundreds — often thousands. You take home a fraction. The company keeps the rest.
